Respect

In my office, currently there are some on going war.

One of the manager, kept harping on the issue of respect. Like people do not respect his opinion anymore blah..etc.

That got me thinking, what truly is respect ?

In Asia, respect is a big thing, I do not know about west. Especially, respect for the elders, yup, just because someone getting closer to coffin, we need to show respect. Or leaders, respect for them, even though they made stupid statement, we also cannot laugh at them, we need to “have faith” in them, because  they can do miracle, so the myth said.

Please, if I were to show respect for the stupid, that makes me worse than that “stupid” , right ?

So, stay away from stupids, because normally stupids think they are above the rest and need respect from others. These are the kind of people wanted unearned greatness and demand respect.

In my own opinion and applies to me only, respect means , someone willing to point out my mistake to me, in the most honest and politically incorrect manner, simple as that. If I have such friend, I would have been most honored to have them, for the ability to tell the truth in very difficult way.

In fact, many times, I found that I earned my “respect credit” (as in financial credit)  from others, through willingness to be accountable to the mistake I made, or even to admit my other co-workers had a better idea than my own, many times,in the flip-flop situation,  putting effort in fixing them and getting them back on the course to where they were designed to be. Nothing is perfect, respect is earned that way.

Back to that manager, he was the oldest, no doubt, and always suggested many outdated ideas and expect others to buy in, if others ignored his stupid idea, then he claimed others’ disrespect of his position and opinion. Such people, needless to say, is a waste of company money and resources.

A good manager , is that one person, when his people looked up to him, inspire new way of thinking, normally he/she asked the right question that draws many new possibilities. Such is a real leading manager, the rest are as good as signing vacation approval form and medical leave- a rubber stamp would have done the same.

Caveat emptor: I have nothing against any gay person .

I was reading STOMP website talkback column, mostly about Singaporean, anyway, I happened to read a topic about how to spot gay guy.

Some claimed that guy that had their eye brow plucked is likely way to spot it, another said someone that likes tight clothing, some said fashion designers .. etc.  But there is one reply that caught my eyes, by a member that went by nickname “nagfa”. (here)

Let’s keep this family-friendly; how do I put it..
a foolproof method is when we see one guy’s sausage in another guy’s doughnut box, and the one with the free sausage is smiling contentedly..?

Penis

Back 1993, when Lorena cut off John Bobbitt’s penis, the whole world went berserk, due to marvel of science, it was re-attached back. (Read the wiki here).

This is a similar incident (Penis was severed), this story was too good to be missed. Unfortunately I could not find the English version of the story. So I performed a summarized translation of it.

Story started with two love birds having affair.

This two love birds (both married to someone else) decided to have a quickie in a car park.The guy happened to be the boss and the lady was his secretary. The incident happened around Singapore East coast area.

The husband , suspected the affair after reading text messages sent to her from someone in the office, hired a private investigator to tail the couple .The private investigator managed to tail them to a car park and started seeing the whole car rocking away.

While the whole drama was unfolding, the private investigator quickly tipped off the husband. He was fuming and on the way to the scene.

Just before he got there, a truck that was reversing from the car park accidentally hit the car with the two love birds in it, the secretary that was giving the boss a blow job, suffered from a rude shock and accidentally bitten off the boss’s penis.

The husband, upon arriving at the scene , was speechless seeing his wife was holding the boss’s penis ,with the boss bleeding away. The private investigator ended up having to call ambulance to send the boss to hospital, with the lady carrying the boss penis to the hospital.

The private investigator told the press that he did not know if the penis was re-attached back but certainly, the husband was initiating divorce proceeding.
