A few days ago, I was in a hospital as a visitor. While waiting for someone, a stranger seated next to me struck up a conversation. It went on until the conversation went back to her. She told me about her cancerous conditions and recurrence again near the lymph node and needed another round of chemotherapy. At the end ,she asked me for $2. I gave her the money in the hope what she told me was true but I deeply regretted the act. Yes, I did, for giving her the money and badly regretted it. I came across this situation too many times around this hospital, once I gave a guy some sandwich and a dollar to go home. I saw him doing the same thing on others next two weeks every day while my dad was treated there for accident.

Convenient

Just about two blogs ago, I did comparison of a real life example (noodle price – fluctuation over 28 years) versus official number on inflation rate by our country central bank, with regards to some unreliable figure. A lot of numbers were data of convenient and made no sense . But today, I saw this again,

The 18-19% has always been a questionable figure, two academics in the past quoted and having figure above 30%.

I realized I still have a copy of Dr Lim’s summary report in pdf. It used to be available in the web but cannot be found today. Actually Dr Lim did a great deal of study on Malay poverty in 70s and 80s.

Even though UMNO is not my favorite political party due to its racial inclination, this is actually quite a good move. Make known the political donation, will keep the intention clear out in public.

Also, with proper paper documentation and accounting will keep out the dirty hands from abusing any donation meant for the whole organization.

I hope they will not call it “Offerings”. Call it political donation. “Offerings” makes it sound like slave offering something to the master kind of tone, well, they better work hard to get rid it off the feudalistic culture exist among their own rank.
