Disturbing

October 28, 2007

I read this

tussle-for-converts-insurance.pdf

with very disturbing feeling. This person has a deceased relative that is converted to Islam, but the insurance money cannot be inherited by the spouse or dependents under Sharia Law.

Now imagine this scenario, If I died and left behind big fortune. Someone of sinister, greed and corrupt nature get to know about it and decided to swindle my money away from my family. Comes up with idea I have since converted to Islam. Especially if the country has become fully ruled by Sharia Law, and you have crooks like this sitting in religious council ..

and this.

with no check and balance. It will be a very dangerous place indeed.

Brave

October 28, 2007

Being brave to do certain dangerous stunt is a challenge to status quo . If done to the benefit of mankind is something noble. If done in the anti social manner is…

I happen to know a few people that owns jewelery biz. They seemed to agree that, having a shop near mall where people traffic is the heaviest is the safest bet in terms of security and not to mention the bonus as major crowd puller. But I am not so sure these days. Read this two clippings..

Gang of 3 robbers robbed a mall in Penang in just 2 mins.

Talk about being brave in the anti-social context. No wonder would be criminals should consider Malaysia as second home. Read my previous post here

Prawn

October 26, 2007

I do not know if this is a country wide problem, or just me being too fussy. Last night I went for dinner and called a relatively expensive dish in nearby hawker stall. It came with two prawns unpeeled , decent size , of course.

Anyway, as usual , as I progress through eating the dish, I ended up dirty my hand peeling the rather hot prawn out of the soup. Started peeling and ate it just to realize my wife used up the last tissue. I ended up having to goto washroom to have my hand cleaned up before continue to finish the dish.

From there, I thought, hey, I am paying extra price , I ended have to peel the prawn myself. Why is that ? I am just curious if anyone ever asked the same question ? Some dishes such as fried koay-teow, hor-fan. Most of time come with its shell tail still attached.

The moral of the story is, I am paying FUCKING premium price for that two miserable prawns and it comes unpeeled. I ended having to dirty my own hand and peeled it myself, a perfectly good meal interrupted by having to goto dirty toilet to have my own hand cleaned up before I could finish the meal. Or , forever it had tail attached and quite inconvenient just to eat especially when the shell cuts into gum and caused inflammation later.

Contrast

October 18, 2007

I noticed this interesting contrast …

While the Chinese daily quoted the other race as 友族 “The Friendly Race” , the article talked about Muslim friends going home during festive season.

On another hand, I saw this article quoted “Cina”

Sad

October 17, 2007

Very sad to see that a few people lost their lives due to negligence of authority on safety regulation and enforcement. Seems like they never check the boat before ,only some VIP recently said so ?

Read this earlier statements made on 10 October 2007, just days before the accident, just lip service and no action ..

Happy holiday event turned tragic.

Anyway, to rub more salt to the wound, some YBs (Yang Berhormat / Right Honourable VIP) was hogging the precious time of rescue squad to perform their search and rescue effort. See the Ugly YB here

From Johnny Tan’s Blog or in pdf format..

I recalled a few years ago, same problem during Tsunami strike in Penang, Everytime the VIP arrives, rescue squad needs to give way even in the middle of digging through mud and rubbles.

Another instant in Youth Park Penang , someone got lost in Penang jungle, saw some VIP was seen taking on helicopter ride meant to be used by Rescue squad for air search, he was found dead days later .

So was Highland Tower that collapsed years ago, many VIPs was making rounds until the Chief Police was real pissed. Precious time was wasted. I recalled seeing even the then Transport Minister shown up on TV and giving statement as well, what the f*#& was he doing there anyway ?

Those pathetic YB are bunch of idiots. Doing nothing better but stand in the way of people’s life. Also, those rescue squad members needs to be reminded that Tax payer is their boss, they should serve the citizen well. No time should be wasted to have publicity stunt. Those victim should start suing the VIPs for preventing rescue operation in this case.
